Lisa A. Phifer, President, has been involved in the design, implementation, and evaluation of networking, security, and management products for over 25 years. Since joining Core Competence in 1995, she has advised companies large and small regarding security needs, product assessment, and the use of emerging technologies and best practices. Lisa teaches about wireless LANs and mobile device security and management, and has written extensively for numerous publications, including Wi-Fi Planet, eSecurityPlanet, enterpriseNetworkingPlanet, Information Security Magazine, searchMobileComputing, and searchSecurity. Lisa's product reviews and columns are published monthly by searchNetworking and eSecurityPlanet.

David M. Piscitello, Vice President, is an internationally recognized leader in internetworking & fast packet technology. He has been involved in internetworking technology for 30 years. Dave founded Core Competence in 1993 and served as president and consultant until 2005, when ICANN (Internet Corporation For Assigned Names and Numbers) appointed Dave to serve as a Security and Stability Advisory Committee (SSAC) Fellow. In November 2007, Dave was made Senior Security Technologist at ICANN. Shortly after, Dave turned over Core Competence executive responsibilities to Lisa Phifer. He remains an owner and occasionally provides consulting, writing and speaking services to Core Competence clients.
