The Bottom Line

The BITSURF Pro’s simplified external TA installation and friendly ISDN SURFR Setup utility target this product for the entry level residential market. With two analog ports, the BITSURFR Pro can be combined with an analog fax and phone to support a home office on a single ISDN line. During our evaluation, the BITSURFR Pro took longer to set up ISDN calls than other external TAs we evaluated, can pump data at 115 Kbps when used with a high-speed serial port and multilink, but does not support data compression. At a street price of $359.95, this TA is a bit pricier than some of its competitors – if you prefer an external TA but don’t need multilink, check out the "regular" BITSURFR at $259.95.
