Internet @ppliance Industry Report: A Guide to Technology, Products, and Deployment

The Internet @ppliance Industry Report is a joint effort by Core Competence, Inc. and David Strom, Inc. This report was originally developed in September, 1998. It is periodically expanded as new products are introduced. Visit http://www.corecom.com/ia for recent updates.

The principals at Core Competence include David M. Piscitello and Lisa A. Phifer. Mr. Piscitello is an internationally-recognized expert in Internet, fast packet, and security technology who has been involved in the development of internetworking technology for 20 years. He has served as the technical program committee chair for Networld+Interop since 1995, and is the organizer of The Internet Security Conference. Ms. Phifer has been involved in the design, implementation and evaluation of network management, operations systems, and data communications products for over 17 years. She has hands-on experience with a broad range of broadband and remote access technologies, including DSL, cable, high-speed dial, and VPN services. Ms. Phifer and Mr. Piscitello are co-authors of ISDN Clearly Explained and regularly publish product reviews and technology columns in a variety of industry publications, including CLEC-Planet, InfoWorld, Internet World, ISP-Planet and XDSL.com.

David Strom has consulted to a wide variety of Internet and networking vendors on issues such as web-enabled commerce, web site design, web product marketing and features, and other topics. Over the past decade, he has published over a thousand different articles in the trade press on a variety of networking and communications-related products, including writing regular columns and reviews in Computerworld, InfoWorld, Windows Pro, and Web Builder magazines. He was the founding editor-in-chief of Network Computing magazine and one of the founding editors for a supplement to PC Week called Connectivity that began in 1987. He teaches a two-day seminar at various Networld+Interop shows around the world on eCommerce issues and storefronts, and is a frequent speaker at other events as well.
