The Bottom Line

The NetCommander ISDN’s plug and play installation, superior configuration software, and user-friendly diagnostic tools make it extremely well-suited for residential use. If you often work from home, you’ll also appreciate the analog port for use with an extra phone or fax. Although its set of supported IRQs may hamper configuration in some PCs, this is a rather common issue with ISA cards of any type, and can usually be overcome. The card supports multilink and IP header compression, and installs as a network adapter rather than a modem – while we did not attempt to measure performance, these factors are a positive indication that the NetCommander can really move some data. At a list price of $249.95, this card is an exceptional value.
