When users complain that your WLAN is slow or broken, it's time to break
out your Wi-Fi toolbox. As shown in Lisa's latest trouble-shooting tip,
when the culprit lies at the PHY layer, a spectrum analyzer can find it.

In this NWW market trends article, Lisa Phifer interviews noted WLAN
experts about the top trends in wireless security, from the persistence
of WEP to the growing importance of spectrum analysis.

While attending a conference session on IPv4 address exhaustion and
IPv6 adoption, Dave Piscitello reflected on IPv6 support among firewalls.
What began as skunk works exercise quickly evolved to a formal activity
within the ICANN SSAC. The fruit of this activity is a published report:
SAC 021: Survey of IPv6 Support Among Commercial Firewalls.

At over two million domain name registrations per day, the practice of
"domain tasting" has expanded the pool of potential phish domains by a
factor of 40, making monitoring more difficult and evasion simpler. In
this post, Dave discusses a new Anti-Phishing Working Group report that
studies the relationship between tasted domain names and phishing attacks.

Dave was pleased to see ICANN adding value to YouTube by publishing a
short video on Internationalized Domain Names. ICANN colleague Tina Dam
does a "damn fine job" of explaining a very complicated subject in plain
speak, in just over 4 minutes.

An editor of an online publication contacted asked Dave if he would talk
about network usage policies, asking how companies should handle employee
usage of IM, email, social networking sites, YouTube etc. Dave's advice
on SMB Acceptable Use Policies can be found in this blog post.
