Switch Management (continued)

You can do a fair bit of navigation between windows from the bitmap. Double clicking on an enabled port reveals a Port Configuration sub-view.

From this window, you can change the administrative state of the port, enable traps to be sent to an SNMP NMS identified in the Manager IP address field for Out of Band Management when link or partition state changes, and change the segment to which the port is attached. You can also launch a window to display summary or detailed statistics of port traffic activity (shown below as an inset to the window).

Packet counters are illustrated in brown; if present, FCS errors would be illustrated in violet, Collisions in green, and total errors in blue.

Double-clicking on the LAN segment number in the bitmap opens the General Info window. From here, you can

  • configure SNMP MIB group parameters,
  • view the component hubs in the stack you are managing,
  • select segments for which you wish to view a graph of summary or detailed traffic statistics (the graphs are similar to per port graphs),
  • view and modify the assignment of ports to internal LAN segments
  • identify resilient links between stacks,
  • modify access controls for the hub, and
  • modify the console (serisl) port communications parameters.
